Nakimushi Mermaid

Yumi Uotani dreamed of becoming a professional mahjong player, but the reality of the pro world is far harsher than she expected. Early losses, public scrutiny, and constant self-doubt make every match feel like a test of whether she truly belongs. Even when results improve, the anxiety never fully disappears. Instead of a dramatic rise to the top, the story follows Uotani through the everyday reality of a competitive career, practice sessions, league matches, quiet frustrations, and the emotional weight of performing under pressure. Progress comes slowly, through small improvements and hard-earned experience rather than sudden breakthroughs. Crybaby Mermaid is a grounded, character-driven look at life inside the professional mahjong world about insecurity, perseverance, and the long process of building confidence when success never feels guaranteed.
